“প্রবীণ বয়সে মানুষের অহেতুক শারীরিক অসুখের অভিযোগগুলো আসলে তাদের অবদমিত একাকীত্বেরই নীরব আর্তনাদ। যখন আপনজনেরা স্পর্শের দূরত্বে থাকে না, তখন মানুষ হাসপাতালের যান্ত্রিক স্পর্শেও একটুখানি মনোযোগ খোঁজে। তাদের এই কাল্পনিক অসুখ সারাতে ওষুধের প্রয়োজন নেই; প্রয়োজন কেবল একটুখানি সময়, একটুখানি উষ্ণ সান্নিধ্য এবং এই অনুভূতি দেওয়া যে, তারা আজও আমাদের জীবনে সমানভাবে প্রয়োজনীয়।”
