As industries worldwide accelerate their transition toward environmentally sustainable economies, the demand for a workforce equipped with “green skills” is rising rapidly.
I am excited to share the “Green Skill For TVET” (Draft Version 1.0) framework. This initiative is designed to mainstream sustainability competencies directly into technical and vocational education, ensuring that our learners are not just job-ready, but future-ready.
The framework focuses on five critical pillars of transformation:
-
Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing institutional strategies that align TVET programming with global sustainability goals.
-
Curriculum Innovation: Integrating green competencies into core modules to ensure theoretical and practical alignment with environmental standards.
-
Campus Sustainability: Transforming learning environments into living laboratories that model energy efficiency, water conservation, and responsible waste management.
-
Inclusive Pedagogy: Utilizing learner-centered, project-based methodologies to foster eco-conscious behavior among students.
-
Industry Forecasting: Building robust partnerships to anticipate emerging green occupations and ensure our training remains industry-driven.
Green skills are more than just technical knowledge, they are the values and attitudes needed to support a resource-efficient society. By embedding these standards into our TVET ecosystem, we are building a foundation for sustainable development that benefits both our economy and our planet.
